01About Us
Founded in 2018 at University College Hospital, Ibadan, by clinicians and health professionals. We catch non-communicable diseases early and make sure treatment never stops for lack of money. Ibadan is where we started. Africa is where we are going.
02Why We Exist
High blood pressure, diabetes, cancer and heart disease cause most deaths worldwide, and they hit hardest where care is hard to reach or hard to afford. In Nigeria, many people find out about a condition only when a complication arrives.
We work on both sides of that gap. We teach people what to watch for, we check them for free, and we cover the medical supplies that keep treatment going when a family cannot afford them.
Our work follows Sustainable Development Goal 3, good health and wellbeing for all, and its target of cutting early deaths from non-communicable diseases by a third by 2030.
Health talks, radio, social media and our monthly NCD Watch, so people know the risk factors and the warning signs.
Free checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, eyes and more, with counselling and referrals on the same day.
Medical supplies, blood and help with bills, so treatment does not stop for lack of money.
A world where people living with non-communicable diseases live healthily and reach their full potential.
To advocate for the wellbeing of people living with non-communicable diseases and make sure they can reach quality health care they can afford.
04Our Story
On 30 June 2018 we launched at University College Hospital with health talks on hypertension and heart defects, free screening, and supplies for 50 heart procedures for children.
Our first Healthy Community Initiative screened about 130 residents of Yemetu for blood pressure, diabetes and more, at no cost.
Supplies for 100 chemotherapy sessions went to the Oncology Unit at UCH during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Our first blood drive collected about 80 pints with the UCH Blood Bank. Four more drives followed over two years.
We started publishing NCD Watch every month, plus research and opinion pieces from clinicians and guest experts.
Volunteers in SmileBuilders red ran our 2025 blood drive with the UCH Blood Bank at Alexander Brown Hall.
